    the act of providing guidance for responsible living, upbringing, training, instruction, in our lit. chiefly as it is attained by discipline, correction (LXX, PsSol; TestZeb 2:3), of the holy discipline of a fatherly God 1 Cl 56:16. πᾶσα παιδεία all discipline Hb 12:11. τὰ λόγια τῆς παιδείας τοῦ θεοῦ the oracles of God’s teaching 1 Cl 62:3. ἐκτρέφειν τινὰ ἐν π. καὶ νουθεσίᾳ κυρίου bring someone up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (=Christian disc. and instr.)
